"You must CULTIVATE growth, it doesn't just happen"
Being passive or passive aggressive will not effectively get you to where you want in life. At my first Black Professional Network event in San Francisco, Mandela Schumacher-Hodge asked attendees "What are you doing today to make an impact?" She went on to say, that our days are numbered and with each passing moment we should be doing something with intention. It's important to have productive days. Begin each day making a list of important tasks that need to be accomplished then cross out each one of them as they are completed. Cultivating is a process that requires crop selection, land preparation, seed selection, seed sowing, irrigation, growth fertilizing and harvesting. It requires both patience and determination from farmers. The desire to make an impact and live with intention requires the same fortitude. It's frustrating hearing people say that they want something to change in their life but they have no willingness to endure the process. Yesterday marked the end of my 36th year of life and the beginning of my 37th. One of my birthday presents to myself was to do what I love, coordinating an event. On my special day, I chose to work in hopes that my actions will be indicative of what is to come. I am choosing to intentionally cultivate my success so that I can make an impact.
